Our Artists
HOLLY YASHI In 1981 at Humboldt State University in California, Holly Hosterman, a B.F.A., and Paul (Yoshi) Lubitz, an M.S. in Industrial Arts, met and started a jewelry company. Their breakthrough came when they discovered the amazing uses of niobium, a little known metal twice as expensive as silver. When dipped into an electrically charged bath, the niobium turned into brilliant colors according to the strength of the charge. The rest is history. From their gorgeous Romance necklace with a cornucopia of semiprecious stones to a simple dragonfly, their jewelry is truly "jewelry as art".
ZARAH This California company employs a unique design plan. They hire some of the best artists from all of the areas of art in America. The designs are sent to China where Chinese cloisonne masters hand paint and enamel the jewelry. The results are the best of both worlds.
WILD BRYDE Mike Warner has been making jewelry in the San Francisco Bay area since 1981. His jewelry is made of recycled brass which is etched, hand hammered and plated with 14k gold or rhodium, a non-tarnishing silver alloy. Mike's love of nature is seen in his breathtaking nature pieces. Some almost tell a story. His love of art is seen in the unique angles and intricate designs of his work. What a beautiful combination.
MICHAL GOLAN Michal Golan is an Israel born artist, now working from her studio and store. Her jewelry is most unique ,often showing. Victorian influences and Byzantine influences with her mosaic use of pearls, crystals, and stones in her jewelry. She also makes wild geometric patterns of triangles, circles and squares.
GLASS ORCHIDS Nancy and Gregory Tang produce their incredible dichrioc glass jewelry in their studio in Frankford, ME. Both quit their high tech jobs in 1999, move to Maine and began making jewelry with dichroic glass makers and teaching the art at various places. We looked at many dichroic glass makers, and these are the finest we have seen.
OUR FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND Sharon Bidwell and Carol Joyner produce beautiful jewelry in their Virginia Beach studio using only beach glass that they have found along the beaches of the Chesapeake Bay. Leaving the glass exactly as nature has created, they use silver, shells, and charms to make all types of beach glass jewelry-including beach glass bookmarks.
SIENNA SKY Barbra McCambridge produces her earrings in her studios in Longmont, Colorado. Beginning with etched nickel and silver, brass and copper, the earrings are polished or painted in bright vivid colors. Her nautical and floral work is spectacular.
SEAGLASS Mark and Carol Hall produce Seaglass jewelry in Downingtown,PA, as part of the White Light Productions Company. Their glass is recycled, manufactured glass. It looks similar to real glass, but offers a wider a choice of colors. Their designs are truly avante garde and luxioursly made with fine, heavy sterling silver.
MON AMIE Amy Greely designs her striking Mon Amie line in her studio in Indiana. All of her jewelry is special, but her work with pearls and sterling silver is simple, unique and fabulous.
SAKAAD Sakaad, founded in Kenya in 1980 by Mary Njogu, imports jewelry "from the heart of Africa". Using exotic materials such as Massai and Korobo beads, bloodstone, agate, bone, brass, aluminum, glass and silver, these designs are quite different from handcrafted American and Asian jewelry. Carrying a large selection of products, Sakaad, is often the main source of income for many villages in Kenya. They are dedicated to paying fair prices to their artists. You do not see "sweatshop" prices on their products.
